For those waiting for the new chapters update for our Book Club on The Moon That Embraces the Sun, it’s coming this weekend. Sorry for the delay. I did catch the premiere of the drama this week, and well… they changed the story around a LOT! The young cast was WONDERFUL as expected, but I’m upset with how they changed the story. Liked the original novel version better… The childhood love story of Yeonwoo and Hwon was pretty magical in the novel. Sigh. That’s coming in the next few chapters. Stay tuned!
Weekend box office ranking for December 30, 2011-January 1, 2012

After debating over which picture to use as the main image this week, I’ve decided on this poster for Perfect Game. Although it is not a blockbuster hit in the likes of Mission Impossible, it is quietly earning rave reviews by the audience with many describing the film as “deeply moving.” Perfect Game is based on the true story of baseball players Choi Dong Won and Sun Dong Yeol.
2011 MBC Drama Awards’ winners – How did Blue do?

The 2011 MBC Drama Awards took place on the night of December 30th. Nothing was truly out of the ordinary (MBC standard, of course). As expected, Cha Seung Won was robbed of his Daesang right under his nose. Yeom Jung Ah was completely snubbed. And in order to address the criticism of having multiple winners, MBC followed in the footsteps of KBS and SBS by splitting its award categories. But alas, it was no use- MBC just went right ahead and still selected multiple winners once again! Oh, and since when did 50-episode dramas started being categorized as a “miniseries?” Just another day at the MBC Drama Awards!
I’ve earlier made predictions on who I think would win. Was the spirit of Paul the Octopus with me?
Beautiful Lyrics series: Turbo’s “Reminiscence”

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!
And as promised, here is the second installment of the winter-themed songs. At the brink of a new year, here is “Reminiscence” (“회상”) by Turbo. Let’s take a moment to reminisce over the past year before we embark on a new one… And while we’re at it, maybe back to 1997 as well!
Blue predicts the winners of the 2011 MBC & SBS Drama Awards

The 2010 FIFA World Cup had Paul the Octopus. (May he rest in peace). Well, there’s no need to be jealous because Korean drama fans have Blue… umm, the Human… ready to predict the winners of the upcoming 2011 MBC Drama Awards and 2011 SBS Drama Awards. (For the predicted winners of the KBS Drama Awards, go here.)
And I will one up the octopus by selecting the winners even before the official nominees are made public! Of course, this is personally not my preference, but after checking the news daily to see whether the nominees have been announced, I finally gave up on the wait, especially with the MBC Awards to be held tomorrow and the SBS Awards the day after.

Hmm, I can’t be the only one thinking that My Way took foreveeerr to be released? Or did it really take this long to film? Or perhaps between this and The Warrior’s Way, it just feels like Jang Dong Gun’s films have recently been in works for years and years and years… Thanks to Jang Dong Gun and director Kang Je Gyu’s star power, My Way had a strong weekend. But is it actually good enough to last?
