Fans of Answer Me 1997 have been buzzing in curiosity as to who will end up being Siwon’s baby’s daddy. The cast has been no exception, with actor Song Jong Ho admitting that he too made many speculations earlier. But with the script for the final episode completed, Song remains mum, keeping it a secret to even his closest friends.
Song explains: “I am put in an awkward situation because people keep asking me. Director Shin Won Ho even asked me not to reveal to others [before the drama started] that I was Yoonje’s brother. He considers such twists important.”
In Answer Me 1997, Song Jong Ho plays Yoon Taewoong, a man who five years after losing his childhood sweetheart, Sung Songju (played by KIM YEWON), in a tragic accident finds himself falling for her younger sister, Sung Siwon (played by JUNG EUNJI).
But we couldn’t help wonder what the actor himself personally thought about his on-screen love story. He admits, “I predicted that people would be critical of Taewoong dating Siwon. It seemed a little strange even to me. I told the director that it would seem too much like a makjang drama. How could he date the younger sister of his former girlfriend? It seemed like a sticky situation. But after five years since Songju’s death, he once again saw his painful love in Siwon.” Song Jong Ho defended his character’s love story, as he explains, “There are many cases where friends become lovers. Love always comes most unexpectedly.”
“It’s unfortunate that it wasn’t a longer series. With more time, it would have been easier to show how my character started to like Siwon, and also earn more empathy from the viewers.”
As for his decision to star in Answer Me 1997, Song Jong Ho admits that he was at first skeptical at the idea of a drama being created by variety show directors and writers. However, once he read the script, he was sold, although he too was surprised by the extent of the drama’s popularity.

Makjang is damn right but I doubt that his character would have garnered additional empathy with more episodes, it’s the perfect amount with great pacing.
If anything, if they cut the storyline for HakChan and YooJung, then I can see it.

He’s such a cuite. If it weren’t for my rabid YJ/SW love, I think I’d be okay with him ending up with Shi-won.

I hope he stars in another drama soon!! i really like him! I just love how I was in love with Tae woong and his charming attitude… but then he said he liked Siwon and i was like whutt? HELL NO XDD … i couldnt believe the triangle was a square now… xD id be the 1st one to match him with si won just to make Joon hee happy with Yoon jae but man, yoon jae and si won … them together ITS FATE!!!
