Actress Kim Sun Ah (Scent of a Woman) vs. two members of SNSD. SNSD girls vs. Kim Sun Ah. Who will come out victorious? Dun dun dun…
*ROUND 1*
The first match is between Kim Sun Ah and SNSD member Jessica Jung. On the opening night of the 16th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) on October 6, Kim Sun Ah showed up wearing a frilly, apricot-colored dress. Two weeks later on October 20, Jessica chose the same dress to wear to the breast cancer campaign “Love Your W.”
However, the two stars took a different approach. Kim Sun Ah wore a matching ribbon on her waist to accentuate her tiny waist. And she tied her hair up in a bun to accomplish a fun, clean-cut look.
Jessica chose to wear a darker-colored ribbon right below her bust line to give the dress an empire silhouette and accentuate her cleavage. She also chose to wear her long, wavy hair down for a feminine look.

So, who do you think wears the dress better?
At first glance, I voted for Jessica. I thought the silhouette of Kim Sun Ah’s dress looked too plain, and having the entire dress in the same color, including the ribbon, almost gave her a washed-out look. In contrast, the higher waist band and the contrasting color gave Jessica’s dress just the right amount of “oomph” to make her overall look fun and flirty.
However, after taking a closer look at the full-body photos, I changed my mind. The lower waistline of Kim Sun Ah’s dress actually shows her feminine curves, whereas the empire waist of Jessica’s dress results in the frills starting too high. As a result, the fall of the skirt does nothing for her figure. I think Kim Sun Ah wins here!
Do you agree or disagree?
*Round 2*
In the second match, Kim Sun Ah is paired up against SNSD leader, Taeyeon.

Kim Sun Ah appeared as a guest on the October 23rd episode of the SBS variety show Running Man, and on this episode, she was seen wearing a striped cardigan from BNX. A month earlier, SNSD member Taeyeon wore the same cardigan in a different color combination as she returned to Korea from the SNSD tour in Taiwan.
Since I couldn’t find a full-body photo for Kim Sun Ah, based strictly on the cardigan alone, who wears it better?
Here, I have to go with Taeyeon. I’m a firm believer that Asians have a harder time pulling off olive-colored clothing, and think the dark navy color of Taeyeon’s cardigan gives her a fresher look.
Do you agree or disagree?

I agree with you on both counts.
Kim Sun-ah looks so much more elegant in the dress. I’m not usually a fan of the flesh-toned one-colour gown, but it really looks good with her skin tone. And I think it’s partly the way she carries herself. Everything about her says class.
I think it’s partly the lighting in the photo pf KSA in the cardigan, but you’re right, it doesn’t suit her. She looks kind of washed out. I also hate olive though, so that might have something to do with it – Taeyeon’s sweater is much prettier.
But multiple patterns are always hard to pull off.

I agree with you about the first one. The higher waist band on Jessica’s dress doesn’t flatter her figure, but the extra color in her dress does add a nice oomph. I think the dress looks nice on Kim Sun-ah. It’s a bit simple but works well with her complexion and image. In addition, she had Kim Joo-hyuk on her arms which gives her automatic bonus points from me.
I don’t really have an opinion about the second ones. Both pictures aren’t that good. Taeyeon looks a bit blue-ish to me which is probably due to all the blue influencing my eyes, and the cardi on KSA looks bland (but I like that hairstyle on her).

I definitely think KSA looked better in the dress while the SNSD girl looks better in the cardigan.

I agree that KSA looks better in the dress. Her cut makes her look tall and slim whereas the empire-waisted version makes Jessica’s chest look bunched-up.
I also agree that the olive sweater is not the best colour for her and it looks too loose and big on KSA. I like the blue version more.
I agree with Eliza Bennet: I love posts like this one! Thank you, blue!

I agree on the dress: KSA looks like an Audrey Hepburn in the way she carried that dress, the dangling earrings, no necklace, the bracelet, the purse colour, and lastly the swept up hair – all contributing to a very elegant classy look.
As for the cardigans, no opinion.

I agree with you 100%.
KSA looks stunning in the dress, and the sweater aged her too much.

It`s KSA for the gown, she look stunning and elegant.
2nd photo, i don`t like the cardigan, why Korean showbiz personality would wear
the same clothes? Who has to blame for this, the actor or the wardrobe consultant?

i agree on both. at first i didn’t like kim sun ah’s version but when i saw the full body shots, i changed my mind. w/ those kinds of frills its better to have it start lower on your body like kim sun ah did. i like that the snsd girl wore a darker ribbon but if she was going to do an empire style w/ the dress, then she should’ve made the skirt shorter. i think it would’ve looked better that way.
and for the cardigan, the blue looks better than the olive. the blue one looks fresher and while the olive cardigan made ksa look a little too matronly and i’ve been told myself that even if you’re a mother doesn’t mean you have to dress like one.

I agree as well. I automatically preferred Kim Sun-ah’s version of the dress for her body type. She’s tall, pale and the dress really accentuated that in a good way. I loved the hair up and that showed off the long neck and lovely jaw line.
I’m not a fan of either cardigan. Although Kim Sun-ah looked more frumpy in hers than Taeyeon. (And those shorts…for serious?)
