Stars’ Airport Style #5 (BIFF edition)

Eeek! The last time I did one of these was back in May, so it was high time that we did another “Stars’ Airport Style” post. And this latest issue is dedicated to the celebrities arriving at the Busan’s Gimhae International Airport earlier this month to attend the opening of the 16th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) on October 6.

Black is always a favorite color to wear, but on this day in particular, the dress code seems to have been black, black, leather, black, denim, Vitamin Water, and oh, did I mention black?

STARS LOVE BLACK

JANG DONG GUN

We start off with the A-list actor Jang Dong Gun (My Way) leading the pack. He has really emerged as a fashion icon of his generation along with his wife, Go So Young.

ODAGIRI JOE

Japanese actor and Jang Dong Gun’s My Way co-star, Odagiri Joe, visited Busan to attend the film festival. Waist up, he looks like he’s sporting the typical celebrity black, but waist down, Odagiri goes for a much funkier choice.

SUNG YURI

I can’t decide what I think of Sung Yuri’s (Romance Town) wardrobe. On one hand, it screams “I’m a celebrity!” (perhaps a little too much), but on the other hand, she looks like Captain Big Bird going sailin’.

KANG YE WON

Kang Ye Won has been around for a few years now, but she has only recently been getting her name out in Chungmuro through the popularity of last year’s Hello Ghost and her latest blockbuster, Quick. Personally, I think it’s hard for anyone to pull off the white pantyhose look, but the little girl in me is loving the black heart-shaped knee patch on Kang Ye Won’s.

RYU HYUN KYUNG

I love how comfortable that material for actress Ryu Hyun Kyung’s (Night Hospital) pants looks, but that the overall look still looks very much put-together and nothing like the sweats I typically wear for flying.

YOO AH IN

Maybe it’s the long black coat? Or the forever baby face? But whenever I see Yoo Ah In (Wandeuki), I can’t help but think that he looks like a little boy playing dress-up in his dad’s clothes.

YOO IN NA

These were the best photos I could find of Yoo In Na (Best Love) on this day. All others were those taken from top angle looking down that made her head look big and her body short, simply to highlight her cleavage. Oh, you perverted reporters!

STARS LOVE LEATHER

KIM MIN JOON

Kim Min Joon (Romance Town) is originally from Busan, so this trip must have been like a return home for him.

LEE JE HOON

I’ve heard so many praises about the acting talent of this rookie actor, Lee Je Hoon (The Front Line, Bleak Night), that perhaps my expectation ended up a little too high? I ended up not being blown away as I thought I would be when I recently saw his performance in The Front Line. Maybe Bleak Night, for which he won Best New Actor in this year’s Grand Bell Award, will have me thinking differently.

But what I love about seeing rookie actors is how still awkward and inexperienced they look when they’re photographed in the public or on the red carpet. I LOVE the unsure, awkward wave Lee Je Hoon gives to his fans at the airport. This kind of thing you can only see while they’re still fresh rookies, so enjoy them while you can!

STARS LOVE BLACK… AND LEATHER

KIM SUN AH

It’s cute how Kim Sun Ah (Scent of a Woman) is posing and looking like she’s having fun as she gets photographed on her walk to the airport. Maybe it’s things like this that makes her fans adore her.

NAM GYU RI

Gahhh! I’m so jealous of Nam Gyu Ri’s (49 Days) complexion! It looks so smooth and clear.

KIM GYU RI

Kim Gyu Ri (Phungsan Dog) gets my vote for looking the most bad ass in black leather.

JO YEO JUNG

I love that Jo Yeo Jung’s (I Need Romance) entire black outfit just makes her bright red shoes pop out even more!

SONG SUN MI

Unlike the other actresses who all matched their black leather jackets with black skinny pants, Song Sun Mi (Ojakgyo Brothers) opted to pair hers with a long maxi dress instead.

FALL IS THE SEASON OF TRENCH COATS!

BYUN JUNG SOO

I knew it! I thought Byun Jung Soo’s trench coat looked familiar, and indeed, it’s because she wore it in one of the episodes of her currently airing drama, Hooray for Love. The trench coat is from Derercuny.

HONG SOO AH

Trench coat? Check! Big sunglasses? Check! Large designer bag? Check! Vitamin water? Check! Hong Soo Ah (I Believed in Men) is now ready to strut the… umm, airport runway.

KIM BO KYUNG

Actress Kim Bo Kyung (The Day He Arrives), not to be confused with the Super Star K contestant by the same name, went for a more traditional, classic trench coat look… and rocked it!

DENIM, DENIM, DENIM…

WANG JI HYE

Everyone’s favorite second lead, Wang Ji Hye (Protect the Boss), opted for denim on denim. I love the look of the maroon-colored socks poking out through her shoes.

LEE CHUN HEE

The new dad Lee Chun Hee (Gloria) also stopped by Busan to attend the film festival.

PARK JAEBUM

Pop idol Park Jaebum (a.k.a. Jay Park) has a movie coming out next month in November, appropriately titled Mr. Idol.

JUNG SEOK WON

As happy as I am for the happy couple, it’s also pretty sad how every article that ever mentions Jung Seok Won’s (MidasDr. Champ) name all refers to him as “Baek Ji Young’s man.” On this day, as opposed to the muscular jock, he looked more like a cute nerd with his thick-rimmed glasses and his man bag.

BREAKING THE MOLD… SORTA

PARK SHI YEON

The soon-to-be bride, Park Shi Yeon (Coffee House) in pink sweatshirt… and black skirt, with Vitamin Water in hand.

PARK YE JIN

Park Ye Jin (My Princess) in purple, with matching Vitamin Water in hand.

RYU SEUNG RYONG

Ryu Seung Ryong had a big year with three blockbuster films all premiering in 2011 – ChildrenThe Front Line, and War of the Arrows.

HWANG WOO-SEUL-HYE

Hwang Woo-seul-hye (Believe in Love) dressed in military look.

 WE ARE THE DIRECTORS

Have you ever wondered how the directors behind the camera look? Well, here are three (from left to right) – the legendary Korean director Im Kwon Taek (Hanji), the legendary Hong Kong director Tsui Hark (Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame), and a master of “visual cinematic arts” Lee Myung Se (M, Duelist)- as they arrived in Busan to attend the film festival. And in particular, Tsui Hark is quite a fashionista, I’d say!

I think I.counted 10 vitamin waters…..is this the Dokko Jin effect or what?

  2. diorama

Hahaha, the vitamin water! I was wondering if it wasn’t exaggerated, and then I spotted two, and then another, and another…Maybe it stands out against all the black.

On the other hand, thank you for letting me squee at my celebs! Yoo Ah In looks so cool with his smile, and I loved seeing Yoo Inna and Park Shi Yeon. Kim Bo Kyung is my favorite, though – pulled together, chic, and classy, even at the airport.

  3. letmeeatcake

Yeah, why the heck do they all have vitamin waters?! And even the same brand!
Do they hand it out on the plane, or is it a trend to drink vitamin water or something right now?

  4. supah

I don’t care if Joe Odagiri likes to dress like a ponce sometimes (’tis an Asian celebrity thing — I’ll get over it) he’s still MIIIIINE! <3

  5. Eliza Bennet

Fave airport looks are Kim Bo Kyung (what can I do? I love classic) and Park Ye Jin (except the sunglasses that is)

I don’t like the black bra under white t-shirt (Hong Soo Ah)

Jang Dong Gun I think has the best look among the men followed by Tsui Hark.
