The 2011 Seoul International Drama Awards were held on August 31, awarding the winners from a pool of 204 entries from 37 countries around the world. With the ceremony taking place in Yeouido’s KBS Hall and being broadcast on SBS, I’m personally more curious about whether MBC feels left out at all. Hmm… But anyway, here are the winners!

PHOTOS, PHOTOS, PHOTOS!
Introducing the MCS… Han Go Eun (A Man Called God) and Ryu Si Won (Style).

Ryu Si Won is carrying on his tradition of looking mighty unkempt at these awards shows. Please, someone do something about his hair! Not to mention his suit doesn’t fit him, and… is that a Western bow tie?

Park Yoochun was the man of the night, bagging two awards for himself, and his drama, Sungkyunkwan Scandal, also winning in the Excellence Hallyu Drama Award category. Oh, the power of fandom! But he looks adorable in a tuxedo, does he not?

Baek Ji Young proved once again that she is the reigning queen of drama soundtracks, picking up an award for her song “That Woman” from the Secret Garden OST.

Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh picked up a Netizen Popularity Award, making this win her second one in two years.

Japanese actor Kamiki Ryunosuke is described by the Korean media as “Japan’s little brother.” Is it true? Anyway, he also took home a Netizen Popularity Award.

He won alongside Taiwan’s Jian Man-shu and China’s Yu Xiaotong.

Those glasses make Choi Daniel (The Musical, Baby-Faced Beauty) look like Korean Harry Potter, but his smile is endearing.

Nude was a popular color choice for the evening. As see on Hwang Sun Hee (City Hunter)…

… and Im Soo Hyang (New Gisaeng Story), whose sequin dress was unfortunately not a very flattering cut.

Like Min Hyo Rin (Romance Town), Anne of Green Gables also coveted the biggest, puffiest sleeves in the whole world. Okay, fine, except for the back, I actually really do like this dress. It reminds me of an orchid. I just wish the sleeves didn’t connect at the back, making it look like she’s just wearing a cape.
And now off to the always popular color choice on the red carpet – black!
I don’t know. Perhaps it’s the fact that it’s still summer or perhaps it’s that the red carpet walk happened in broad daylight, but the color black looked rather drab this day.

Jo Yeo Jung (I Need Romance) looks pretty and chic.

Seo Ji Hye (49 Days)

Gong Hyun Joo (You’re My Destiny) looks like she will be swallowed up by all that black cloth.

It’s actually adorable how awkward Son Hyun Joo (Definitely Neighbors) and Kim Mi Sook (City Hunter) look standing next to each other.

Ji Hyun Woo (A Thousand Kisses) decked all in black and his facial expression looking pretty bad ass.

T-Max member Shin Min Chul channeling Kang Ji Hwan’s Hyun Ki-joon style in Lie to Me with his pink flower pin.

Lee Jong Hyuk (a.k.a Lee Jong-HOT) in a classic tuxedo and doing what he does best… looking HOT.

Jung Gyu Woon (Romance Town) went for a lighter color blazer. With his newly lightened hair, he looks young, fresh, and suave.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. The chemistry between JGS and MGY was off the charts, but the drama itself was insane.

I KNOW! I read that and was all “what were they thinking?” Top Excellence award? I loved the leads in that drama but it was frankly a trainwreck from beginning to end.
Sungkyunkwan Scandal is okay for the Excellence award, although I think there were better ones out there.
*sigh* The power of fangirls…

OMO! at last, someone saying what is truly MSOAN. That was my biggest disappointment of JGS, I have been like, so eager, and only to be given that kind of drama after YAB. To top it all, MGY was dressed so badly in MSOAN.

Bella, I agree! With all those other great dramas that aired during the judging time period (April 2010 to April 2011), that one was chosen? There was a Viewers’ Choice voting thingy as well, so maybe the netizens struck again. Geez, there’s no accounting for taste, ne?
BTW, I’m loving the new site design. You guys did a fantabulous job — kamsahamnida!
